In Golden Currents, the waterfall becomes a study in movement, light, and transformation. Layers of liquefied acrylics and inks capture the shifting energy of falling water as it moves between force and stillness. Golden passages of light emerge within the cascading currents, evoking sunlight filtering through water and illuminating its constant movement.

The painting is deeply connected to the landscape of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Mica gathered from my own land is embedded within the surface, catching the light like sun glinting across rushing water. Dried moss and lichen—vegetation nourished by the moisture surrounding the falls—bring the quiet, resilient life of the forest into the work. Impressions of native ferns and pigments derived from local soil further connect the painting to the land, making the landscape not simply the subject, but a physical part of the painting.

Built through many layers, Golden Currents invites the viewer to experience the depth, rhythm, and vitality of a waterfall while reflecting on the interconnectedness of water, earth, light, and life.
